Conversion of the driving license

Conversion of the Argentine Driving License into the Italian "Patente di Guida "

In order to get updated and detailed information about the conversion of the Argentine Driving License into the Italian one it is necessary to apply directly to the appropriate "Motorizzazione Italiana" ("Italian Civil Motorization") according to the place of residence (for instance, those living in Milan have to apply to MOTORIZZAZIONE CIVILE DI MILANO - Via Cilea n. 119 - 20100 MILANO - Tel: 02-353791 - Web site: www.mctcmilano.it ). This Italian Office will supply a list of documents necessary to carry out the conversion.

The only document that this Consulate can supply is a consular declaration translated into Italian certifying the validity and authenticity of the Argentine Driving License and of the data contained in this document.

In order to get this declaration, the interested person has to go to the appropriate Consulate of Argentina in Italy with territorial jurisdiction (Rome or Milan), with the following documents:

• Valid Argentine passport and/or National Document of Identity.

• Photocopy of the D.N.I. and/or of the Argentine Passport.

• Valid Argentine Driving License.

• Certificate of Historical Italian residence.

• Certificate of validity and Authenticity (written in Castilian) delivered by the Municipality that has issued the Driving License. Such a certificate must be duly authenticated with Apostille of the Hague Convention of October 5th, 1961 - (it can be deposited at any Notarial College of all provinces of the Republic of Argentina, or at the Departamento Legalizaciones of the Argentine Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores). It must show the date of the first mailing of the document and the category/categories stated in alphanumeric characters (the translation is not required).

The papers can be carried out at the Offices of the Argentine Consulate General in Milan (Via Agnello, 2 –4th floor) from Tuesday to Friday between 8.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. There is no need to ask for an appointment by phone.

The cost of the Consular Declaration is equal to 40 Euros and it will be delivered within the day.
